The Art of Nicky Birdsall

Paintings
Color brings sketches to life. Watercolors, oils, acrylic's, colored pencils..

The very first of my Steampunk cats. There were 4 originals and Mrs. Kitty started it. All four were done within the same day and used the exact same colors in their palette. Watercolor 9x12. Small fish and mouse details throughout she's more Victorian than Steampunk.

Mr. Kitty was the second in the steampunk cats series. Sadly a lot of his articulation detail was painted over despite it being watercolor but his sketch in Ink is visible in the Sketch Gallery.

Missy Kitty was the third in my Steampunk Cats series. I wanted her outfit to be reminiscent of Mrs. Kitty but sweeter. Also, because the women in my family like our tools, she's taking apart a clock. Very proud of her doll and the fabric on this one just flowed spectacularly. 9x12 Watercolor.

Kitty Jr. was the fourth in the steampunk cats series. He has a fish esque zepplin balloon and may be my favorite of the series.

9x12 image inspired by my friend Rowena and her two boys

9x12 Watercolor. The sketch is viewable in the sketch gallery and shows how different something becomes once you add color. One of my favorites.

Watercolor on 9x12 from just a slight pen sketch you can find in the Sketch gallery. We never see fish in just one color, why not ocean dwellers?

Sold. 9x12 watercolor that started as a whimsical St. Patrick's idea (see the shamrock on her hat?) and transitioned from there.
